According to Ling Hongxun's plan, the number of tunnels that were originally built by the British surveyed was reduced to 16 and the construction difficulty was greatly reduced, and the construction period was shortened by more than one year.

The railway, its birth, also announced the full line of the Guangdong section of the Yuehan Railway. In 1989, the Dayaoshan Tunnel, which is called “A must in Asia”, was finally opened. It is located between Pingshi and Lechang in the mountainous area of Yuebei, with a total length of 14.295 kilometers. It travels from north to south through the 1600-meter-high Dayao Mountain.

The Dayaoshan Tunnel was located in the construction of the Dayaoshan Tunnel (double line) in the Guangdong-Guangzhou Railway. It set the record for the length of the tunnel in China and was a miracle in the history of tunnel construction in the world. From then on, the Beijing-Guangzhou line can finally drive straight in, without having to hover over the mountainside. The most dangerous journey of the ancient Yuehan Railway has finally completed its historical mission.
